KTurner KY Flood Art Design
This original design is created for the state of Kentucky and the recent devastating floods and severe weather that has swept across the state. It hasn’t been long since the state has experienced the harshness that mother nature can throw at us.
I felt compelled to create this piece showcasing the strength and resilience of our communities and state. These people are strong, they come together and help their neighbors, and overcome. The courage and bravery I continue to witness fills my heart to help in one of the ways I know how, and that is to put my artwork into action.
Inspired by “The great wave off of Kanagawa” by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai. A similar wave is seen in a ying and yang design, centered with the state of Kentucky displayed as a tree rooted in overcoming disaster. The phrase “Rooted to Rise” comes to mind as communities work together to build back homes, businesses, and communities.
The purchase of these signed and numbered prints will go 100% to non-profits working to help across the state. (a few to name; Foundation for Appalachia, SOAR, Eastern KY Mutual Aid, Appalachian Arts Alliance)
Reproductions are signed and numbered by Kellene Turner
*Stickers will be mailed out after February 28th, 2025
*Reproductions are in production as of February 20th, 2025
